Nickelback Says Put Down Guitar Hero, Pick Up a Guitar

Nickelback Nickelback frontman, Chad Kroeger, is urging people to put down video games like Guitar Hero in favor of doing the real thing in real life.  He recently said: "start rock bands.  Set down the ‘Guitar Hero’ learn how to play an actual guitar and start a band, because it’s hard to find more bands to put a solid rock-and-roll package together."

I know what he means.  I love GH, don’t get me wrong, but the musical journey and understanding cannot start and stop there.  I’m hoping these games pique the interests of young people and inspire them to want to get up and learn how to wail for real on an actual guitar.  It worked for Nickelback…

There’s a lot of criticism of GH players out there. As a guitarist and teacher, I’ve tried to avoid that, and instead hope that GH will inspire a new generation of guitarists.

I teach lead guitar with free lessons on youtube and my vids get hundreds of thousands of views, so there seems to be quite a few guitarists still trying to learn guitar out there.
