Canadian Music Neglected in Canada?
I started this blog a month ago because I feel like Canadian music needs a little more recognition. There aren’t a lot of sites or blogs on the subject and that left me a little frustrated. That was, until, I realized a few things.
I get more readers on days when I write about people who are popular in the States. I’m talking about Avril Lavigne, Nelly Furtado and even Michael Buble. I know there is a lot of underground stuff and I’m totally open to people sending me any and all tips (email me!) but I’m really unhappy with MuchMusic, MTV Canada and even Yahoo Music (Canadian site). It’s really tough to find stuff that is uniquely Canadian and I feel a little angry about it. MuchMusic is really dominated by American music and I understand that it is what is popular but I also think there needs to be a real section devoted to our own homegrown music too.
