Canadians Pay Tribute to John Lennon
Canadian singers, Nelly Furtado, Alanis Morissette and Rufus Wainwright are appearing on a tribute DVD called “Come Together: A Night for John Lennon’s Words & Music” to pay respect to the former Beatle. It was filmed back in 2001, just weeks after the horrific September 11 terrorist attacks and proceeds from the event, which was filmed at New York’s Radio City Music Hall, were donated to the recovery efforts.
The artists were allowed to interpret a Lennon song in any way that they chose - Nelly Furtado sang “Instant Karma with Dave Stewart, Alanis performed “Dear Prudence” and Rufus sang “This Boy” with Sean Lennon and Robert Schwartzman and then “Across the Universe” again with Sean, along with Moby. The DVD is now on sale and the proceeds will go to the Robin Hood Foundation. Here’s the list of performances - sounds like a good DVD to buy!
