Barenaked Ladies’ Ed Robertson Survives Plane Crash

Barenaked Ladies’ Ed Robertson Survives Plane Crash

WOW!  What a summer for the Barenaked Ladies!  First, frontman Steven Page gets arrested for drug possesion and now this!
Ed Robertson was in a float-plane crash in southeastern Ontario!  He and three others survived after the craft plummeted into trees.  According to the Ontario police, the plane lost speed on take off and went into the trees on the west side of Baptiste Lake.  I don’t know if he was actually flying the plane but I do know that he got his pilot’s license back in 2005.
The ironic part is that he’s on that show that follows his travels …read more

Canadian Music Neglected in Canada?

Canadian Music Neglected in Canada?

I started this blog a month ago because I feel like Canadian music needs a little more recognition.  There aren’t a lot of sites or blogs on the subject and that left me a little frustrated.  That was, until, I realized a few things.
I get more readers on days when I write about people who are popular in the States.  I’m talking about Avril Lavigne, Nelly Furtado and even Michael Buble.  I know there is a lot of underground stuff and I’m totally open to people sending me any and all tips (email me!) but I’m really unhappy with MuchMusic, …read more

Billy Talent Helps Fight Multiple Sclerosis

Billy Talent Helps Fight Multiple Sclerosis

Aaron Solowoniuk has been on tour in Europe for the last few weeks, his band, Billy Talent, has sold more than 600,000 copies of their first two albums and they’ve just celebrated 15 years of awesome togetherness.  All of this is great but there’s one more think you should know about Billy Talent’s drummer – he has multiple sclerosis.
Under Aaron’s direction, Billy Talent has waged war on MS through F.U.M.S.  He has been fighting the disease by taking three weekly injections.  Now Billy Talent is behind the MS Society of Canada’s Scholarship Program.  It provides post-secondary education support to …read more

Alexisonfire – "This Could Be Anywhere in the World" Video

Wow… I don’t actually know how I feel about this song.  I like half of it… that’s a start.  I think the guitar chords are pretty hot, in all honesty, but I’m not a huge fan of how the chorus sounds.  It’s not because it’s too “hard” for me, I just don’t particularly like how it sounds.  Still, the video is amazing and has, actually, been recognized – it won the 2007 MuchMusic Video Award for “Best Cinematography.”  Check it out:

Nickelback – "Savin’ Me" Video

“Savin’ Me” was one of the singles off of Canadian rock band Nickelback’s 2006 album All the Right Reasons.   It went all the way up to #1 on the Canadian charts, #19 on Billboard’s Hot 100.

Sum 41 – "In Too Deep" Video

Sum 41 – "In Too Deep" Video

It’s not a new song or anything but I had read an article about Avril Lavigne which made me think of her husband, Deryck Whibley, and, for whatever reason, I started humming "In too Deep."  The song is from their debut album (2001) All Killer No Filler.  Here’s the video – it’s pretty funny if you enjoy watching a punk rock band compete in a diving competition:
