Canadian singer, Alanis Morrissette, made an appearance on Rosie Live last night.  The show, created by Rosie O’Donnell, was supposed to be a throwback to the old variety shows that we used to love (think Sonny & Cher).  I haven’t read one good review and I’m disappointed to say that my PVR didn’t record it and I can’t find many videos online yet. 

Apparently, Alanis sang "a song referencing the 12 Steps in front of… an endless loop of geese flying through a sunset."  Wow… That sounds very unfortunate (yikes!).  If I find a video, I’ll be sure to put it up.  In the meantime, here is the promo for the show so you can have a better idea of what it was about.

The artists were allowed to interpret a Lennon song in any way that they chose – Nelly Furtado sang “Instant Karma with Dave Stewart, Alanis performed “Dear Prudence” and Rufus sang “This Boy” with Sean Lennon and Robert Schwartzman and then “Across the Universe” again with Sean, along with Moby.  Watch that performance now:

Alanis Morissette is holding her very own karaoke contest on MySpace Karaoke!  Myspace members will have the chance to sing along to karaoke versions of tracks from Alanis’ new album “Flavors of Entanglement” for a chance to win concert tickets and a microphone signed by her!!!  The coolest part?  Alanis will choose the winner herself (wow!) based on her favorite rendition on July 20, 2008.
