Flashback Friday: Nelly Furtado "Try"

Flashback Friday: Nelly Furtado "Try"

Remember when Nelly Furtado was not making music that sounded over-processed, over-mixed, over-synthesized, over-sexualized or over-Americanized?  Yeah, me too and I miss those days.  Her songs used to have meaningful lyrics and actual melodies.
Take 2004’s “Try,” for example, from her album Whoa, Nelly! This isn’t my favourite version of this song but it’s still a lot more honest and beautiful than the stuff she’s making now.  What I love is how this song almost starts like it’s going to be acoustic then slowly builds and the emotion is undeniable.  How many times have you felt like all you …read more

Avril Lavigne Featured in Nintendo Wii Game

I love my Nintendo Wii and one of my favorite things to play on the Wii are their sports games.  Whether it’s Wii Sports, Mario and Sonic at the 2008 Beijing Olympics or even just NHL 2K9, I love the action games!
Now, I have heard that a new game called “Celebrity Sports Showdown” is ready to make its’ debut and it features famous people playing a variety of sports.  Our very own Avril Lavigne is featured playing badminton, for example.  Some of the other stars include Keith Urban, Fergie, Paul Pierce and Mia Hamm (I’m guessing she plays volleyball …read more

Canadians Pay Tribute to John Lennon

Canadians Pay Tribute to John Lennon

Canadian singers, Nelly Furtado, Alanis Morissette and Rufus Wainwright are appearing on a tribute DVD called “Come Together: A Night for John Lennon’s Words & Music” to pay respect to the former Beatle.  It was filmed back in 2001, just weeks after the horrific September 11 terrorist attacks and proceeds from the event, which was filmed at New York’s Radio City Music Hall, were donated to the recovery efforts.
The artists were allowed to interpret a Lennon song in any way that they chose – Nelly Furtado sang “Instant Karma with Dave Stewart, Alanis performed “Dear Prudence” and …read more

Nelly Furtado Secretly Married This Summer!

She may not be a "Maneater" or a "Promiscuous Girl" like the titles of some of her most famous songs but she is a married woman!
British Columbian singer, Nelly Furtado, has revealed that she was secretly married this past summer to her fiancé of one year, Demacio Castellon.  Apparently, the couple were wedded on July 19, 2008.   "I just feel kind of free and relaxed and more in tune with trying not to be so stressed out," she told Entertainment Tonight. "[I'm] trying to enjoy things a little more.  I’m happy…I’m excited about the future."
That sounds like a good plan, …read more

Nelly Furtado "All Good Things (Come to an End)" – Video

Nelly Furtado released the song "All Good Things (Come to an End)" on November 17, 2006 off of her album "Loose." It peaked at #5 on the Canadian Singles Chart, #86 in the U.S. and #4 in the UK. I’m not a huge fan of Nelly’s newer music, but I don’t mind this song that much. It’s a bit of sad song, but I think it’s still pretty.
