Sarah McLachlan To Receive Special Award at 2009 Junos
Canadian singer/songwriter, Sarah McLachlan, will be recognized at the 2009
Juno Awards in Vancouver for her humanitarian work. In 1997, she created Lillith Fair with an aim at promoting women in the music industry. The touring festival raised more than $7 million for charity in just three years.
Sarah was also given the Order of Canada in 2000 after her work with the B.C. Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
Additionally, she has been active with charities geared towards helping underprivileged children have access to music lessons and mentorship.
McLachlan will receive the Allan Waters Humanitarian Award on March 28, 2009 at the Junos. I was fortunate enough to be on hand to watch Paul Brandt win it last year. I hope to be there to watch Sarah accept the award too.
