Vancouver, Canada industrial band Econoline Crush are suing Nickelback for copyright infringement in a claim filed Monday, Jan. 31, 2011 in Central District California Court. In the complaint for copyright infringement and demand for jury trial, Econoline Crush accuse that Nickelback’s 2003 song “Figured You Out” is a ripoff of Econoline Crush’s copyrighted 1997 song “All That You Are”. According to the court papers, the Nickelback song “bears a substantial similarity to their previously published song and that the recording, distribution and sale of Figured You Out violates [Econoline Crush]’s proprietary rights.”
