Viral Video helps boost Ottawa folk-rock band

The Ottawa Citizen, in its article entitled “Viral Video Gives Boost To Dynamic Ottawa Folk-Rock Band“, is reporting that unknown local folk-rock band Kalle Mattson is seeing a surge in popularity due to a video for their song Thick as Thieves that was uploaded to vimeo earlier this year.  Since then, the video has received over 10,000 plays on vimeo and over 5500 on youtube.  Not bad for a local folk-rock band from Ottawa that was pretty much completely unknown before the stop-motion animated video came out.  The video was directed by Canadian animator Kevin Parry.  Although the video was uploaded in the spring of 2011, it just recently began to go viral in mid November when it was added to Vimeo‘s list of Videos We Like.  The band is currently on tour in Ontario and Quebec with Winnipeg’s The Details.
