Varga returns after 17 years with new album “Enter The Metal”

varga enter the metalThe end of 2013 wouldn’t be right if I didn’t take a minute to celebrate the release of Varga‘s third album Enter the Metal. The prog-metal band from Hamilton, Ontario released their third full-length release on November 14, 2013.  Enter the Metal is their first new studio release in 17 years. It was produced by long time friend and producer/engineer Julius “Juice” Butty (Alexisonfire, Protest the Hero), and recorded at both Six Nations’ Jukasa Studio, and Butty’s own Silo Studios. The album was released via the band’s own label Vargantuan Music. I included the album in my list of Favourite Canadian Metal Albums of 2013.

As the band’s leader, Joe Varga, states, “In this collection of music, you’ll hear a return to our metal and progressive roots with songs laden with heavy licks, crazy time changes and insane vocals.”

The band was originally formed in 1989 and built a loyal following of heavy metal fans and released 1994’s Prototype on the Zoo label. The band was earned a thumbs up on the MTV’s legendary Beavis and Butthead show.
