July 23, 2014 – Charlottetown, PEI – The Meds

Charlottetown powerhouse band The Meds (Kyle Drake, Iain McCarvill, George Maros and Bruce Rooney) will be the opening band at The New Glasgow Jubilee — a gig that 1,200 international artists were hoping to book. The reputable timeslot was part of an opportunity put together by The Jubilee and international music artist community ReverbNation.

“It seems only fitting that one of the most exciting new bands in Atlantic Canada was selected to open Jubilee 2014 through the ReverbNation opportunity,” says Executive Director of the Jubilee Carlton Munroe. “If ever there was a band that was meant for the Jubilee stage, I would say The Meds are that band.”

Three judges agreed with Munroe, deciding unanimously that The Meds have what it takes to rock the same stage as acclaimed artists Sam Roberts, Stephen Page, Danko Jones, Adam Baldwin, and others.

The judges of the contest were Jason MacIsaac, owner of JJ Bookings, Kimberly Sinclair, owner of SpinCount, and Darcy Walsh, local music fan.

The panel reviewed submissions in relation to originality, draw, video performance, marketability, song writing, arrangement, and social media response.

Besides opening the festival, The Meds’ selection also entitles them to a free consultation session with both JJ Bookings and SpinCount, as well as a 2-hour professional photo shoot with Tony Decoste Photo-Video.

Attendees of The Jubilee will be treated to new tracks off The Meds’ full length album South America (released in April), including East Coast Countdown #1 track Running the Edge Down.

“We are beyond excited to join the amazing lineup at the 2014 New Glasgow Riverfront Jubilee,” The Meds commented. “So many of our musical heroes have performed on this stage. It is an honour to follow in their footsteps.”

“Our mission at ReverbNation is to connect talented emerging artists to opportunities to get heard and grow their careers,” said Kurt Merriweather, SVP and GM of ReverbNation Industry Services. “We congratulate The Meds for their selection and are pleased that The Jubilee chose to work with us to find great new bands.”

The Meds will be taking the main stage on August 1st at 7:00 pm, and will be rocking Acro Lounge & Eatery later that evening at 12:30 pm.
